With the Hot & Spicy Fest approaching quickly, we're still focused on burgers – particularly the newer burger joints in Beijing! When we announced Side Street as the 2025 Juicy Burger Cup Champion, we also revealed that Wagyu Kaiju took home the title for Best New Burger, along with several runners-up. Let’s now explore this year's Best New Burgers.

Winner: Wagyu Kaiju 和牛怪物汉堡
This year’s Best New Burger and ranked #14 in the Juicy Burger Cup, up-and-coming burger joint Wagyu Kaiju has been delighting diners since its debut in the capital. True to its name, their burgers emphasize high-quality wagyu beef without the hefty price.
At the Juicy Burger Fest, notable favorites included The Lidless Eye Wagyu Burger (RMB 48), inspired by Sauron from The Lord of the Rings, featuring an Australian M5+ Wagyu beef patty topped with a fried egg, bourbon onion sauce, and a secret teriyaki sauce, alongside their Signature Wagyu Kaiju Burger (RMB 48). Their menu offers an impressive array of ten different burgers, including a Pulled Pork Burger (RMB 38) and a Chicken Burger (RMB 28) for those seeking alternatives to wagyu.

Runner Up: HUNGER DOG 饿狗
HUNGER DOG opened last year and aims to recreate the taste and atmosphere of an LA burger joint in Beijing, inspired by its owner’s experiences in Los Angeles. In this year’s Juicy Burger Cup, HUNGER DOG narrowly missed the Top 16, finishing at #18. They've carved a niche with bold flavor combinations such as the Banana Superman Burger (RMB 66), featuring fried banana slices, and the Greasy Angel Burger (RMB 77), topped with a black bun, bacon, and sliced cherries. However, their standout creation is the signature Hunger Dog Burger (RMB 98), made in the traditional West Coast style, with three layers of bun, melted Swiss cheese over two hand-formed patties, finished with a fried egg and a thick slice of pineapple.

Runner Up: JING SLOW Handcrafted Burger 京悠手工汉堡
Having opened less than a year ago, Dongsi-based JING SLOW is the newest spot on this list; yet it has impressively ranked #25 in the Juicy Burger Cup. In addition to classic offerings like the Angus Wagyu Burger (RMB 49), they creatively incorporate traditional Chinese flavors, evident in their Yongdingmen Mutton Skewer Burger (RMB 49). Inspired by the founder's childhood memories of enjoying lamb chuanr in the Yongdingmen area, this burger features lamb skewers in a bun. Another fusion creation is the Cai-Kovsky Burger (RMB 29), with Chinese-style hand-shredded chicken.

Runner Up: Pizza Hut 必胜客
Pizza Hut has recently ventured into the burger market in China, achieving the #20 position in our Juicy Burger Cup. At the Juicy Burger Fest, they introduced two limited-time burgers: the Classic Spicy Crayfish Chicken Burger (RMB 35) and the Salted Egg Yolk Crayfish Chicken Burger (RMB 35), both featuring 12+ whole hand-peeled crayfish and a chicken thigh patty, which are still available. Other classic options include the 0-Additive Angus Beef Cheese Burger (RMB 35), the Cheese Wagyu Supreme Burger (RMB 35), and the Signature Chicken Burger (RMB 19.9). What distinguishes Pizza Hut’s burgers is their unique homemade buns made from pizza dough and topped with Parmesan cheese and parsley.
