This Sunday (April 27) at 6:30 PM, the Mil Gotas project will present a screening of Incorrespondencias, a short documentary by Spanish photographer and filmmaker Eduardo de Armiñán, which delves into themes of memory, past connections, and legacy. The event will be held at the Huayuan branch of Beijing's International Bookstore, followed by a Q&A session featuring Armiñán, who will share his insights on making the film. He will also discuss, alongside Claudia Seryes, the short film they are currently producing about their journey through China and Mongolia.
About the Film
What does it mean to have ties to a past we did not experience? How does one navigate the burdens and expectations of legacy? How can we reach out to those who are no longer present? What persists, and how can we view it?
These inquiries form the core of Incorrespondencias, a short documentary by Eduardo de Armiñán. The film showcases a conversation between de Armiñán and his grandfather, renowned filmmaker and writer Jaime de Armiñán, through a blend of visuals, letters, and other materials. Representing a generation unacquainted with the political upheaval faced by their forebears, the film contemplates fragments of the past and Madrid – what was it like? Through the act of questioning and documenting – cutting, editing, and reassembling his and his grandfather’s imagery – de Armiñán must confront the enduring photographic eye of history.
