2025 Year in Review: New Restaurants and Bars Part 1

      It has been an eventful year for Beijing! In our 2025 Year-in-Review, we reflect on the key events in the capital from this past year. Following our previous discussion on the closures in Beijing's food and beverage scene, we now bring you some positive news about the new restaurants that opened this year! In 2025, the city welcomed a remarkable number of new eateries and bars, so we've selected a few of our favorites, organized chronologically into three parts. So, without further delay, here’s part one!

      **TIAMO**

      At the start of the year, the space that was once Apollo in Sanlitun was taken over by TIAMO. This establishment is a branch of OTIUM •柴屿麦, a bistro-style restaurant located by the Liangma River, specializing in handmade pasta.

      **Le Coq**

      The Le Coq group launched their first Beijing location, Le Coq Wine & Bistro, in Taikooli earlier this year. A brand based in Shanghai, they focus on French fusion cuisine, merging traditional French techniques with modern influences like Asian sauces. They also offer a wonderful selection of wines, signature and classic cocktails, mocktails, and other beverages.

      **One Thousand and One Nights**

      After closing their original location near Tuanjiehu subway station, One Thousand and One Nights reopened at a new site inside the T+ Mall in Sanlitun. The larger space features two separate dining areas, while the menu remains mostly unchanged, offering an array of BBQ and kebab dishes.

      **Rabiul's Kitchen**

      Also opening in March was Rabiul's Kitchen, located directly across the road from the west side of the 798 Arts District. Like all Dastaan locations, they provide high-quality, authentic Indian cuisine with a diverse menu that includes classics, chef specials, street food, and more.

      **CULTURE**

      Sanlitun SOHO welcomed Pakistani restaurant CULTURE, brought by the same team behind Puff & Chill. CULTURE is dedicated to showcasing the rich flavors and culinary traditions of Pakistan, serving everything from kebabs and biryanis to curries and desserts, all made with authentic spices and fresh ingredients.

      **Duli**

      In April, the Shanghai-based vegan bistro Duli opened its first branch in Beijing within the new Friendship Store Complex, located a street away from Side Street Jianguomen and Nola, south of Ritan Park. They offer a variety of signature dishes, including Mapo Tofu Hummus, Corn and Cauliflower Fritter With Bao, and Tom Yum Wanton Soup.

      **a BAR of crayon**

      Another establishment that opened in April is a BAR of crayon, a cocktail bar created by former Union bar manager Harry Hua and his team, in collaboration with Long Fong. This bar reflects the modern cocktail ethos of the Union team, while also exploring Long Fong’s use of lesser-known Chinese ingredients.
