      City Enhances Waste Disposal Systems

      To enhance cleanliness and make waste disposal more convenient, Beijing has launched a plan to establish box-style disposal points in local communities. This is in addition to the 7,794 smart recycling machines already installed across 4,624 communities in the city. There are also plans to introduce a mini program (京彩回收 “Jingcai Recycling”) that will assist the public with waste disposal by enabling door-to-door collection bookings for large items and facilitating the trading of recyclables.

      As the year progresses, some districts will begin a pilot program aimed at enhancing the quality of waste classification disposal points. They will establish box-style distribution centers, expand storage capacity, and address issues such as mosquitoes, odors, and overflowing waste. The smart recycling machines will be integrated with the box-style disposal points.

      New Marine Theme Park Coming to Beijing – “Largest in Asia”

      Construction has started on the Beijing Haichang Ocean Park (北京海昌海洋公园), a new marine theme park set to open in the Tongzhou District. This will be the only large-scale marine theme park built in Beijing since 2000 and, once completed, it will be the largest marine theme park in China.

      The marine park is anticipated to feature an aquarium along with areas for interactive activities, performances, and art. A marine-themed hotel will also be part of the complex. There will be two super theaters, the Whale and Dolphin Theater as well as the Happy Theater, along with a variety of polar and large marine and terrestrial animals.

      Beijing Haichang Ocean Park continues the city's trend of innovative facilities aimed at popularizing science. It is expected to open to the public in 2027 and will be located near Beijing Universal Resort and the Gaoloujin station (高楼金站) on subway Line 7.

      Beijing Haichang Ocean Park is located at the northwest corner of the intersection of Dujiaqu Beijie and Wenfang Sanxiang, Wenjing Street, Tongzhou District (通州区文景街道度假区北街与文坊三巷交叉口西北角).
