In another setback for the food and beverage sector, Indian restaurant Bollywood Tales announced its closure this past Saturday (December 13). This surprising news comes just a month after Migas Mercado abruptly shut its doors, marking another unfortunate day for Beijing's culinary scene. Let’s hope we can make it to the end of the year without any further closures.
Founded by Dastaan's creator and chef Rabiul Baksh, Bollywood Tales opened in late March 2024 as the second location Baksh launched under the Dastaan brand. During its time in the capital, it was widely celebrated for its authentic Indian dishes and vibrant foodie events. Bollywood Tales consistently sought to create bold and exciting flavor combinations, exemplified by the range of Indian tacos they crafted for our Taco Festivals in 2024 and 2025.
We contacted Baksh regarding the closure, and he shared, "We've made the difficult choice to close our Bollywood Tales location due to a decline in customer traffic over recent months. This has made it increasingly tough to cover the operational expenses at this branch. We appreciate everyone's support and are eager to continue serving you at our other three locations."
The official closure announcement from Bollywood Tales can be seen below.
On a brighter note, the other three branches (Dastaan, Rabiul's Kitchen, and Mumbai Impression) remain operational, so you can still visit these venues to enjoy some of their delicious, authentic Indian cuisine. Below are the addresses and contact information for all three, and we highly encourage you to visit and show your support!
