Beijing's food and beverage scene is becoming increasingly vibrant as prominent U.S. chains continue to establish themselves in the capital. Popeyes is set to officially open its Wangfujing location this Friday (April 10), while Chili's is preparing to launch its second outlet in Solana next month, offering American comfort food enthusiasts much to anticipate.
Popeyes Grand Opening on Friday
Popeyes Wangfujing recently began a soft opening, providing a sneak peek before the official debut. The restaurant will close tomorrow for last-minute preparations and will celebrate its grand opening this Friday (April 10) starting at 10 am. Situated in The Malls at Oriental Plaza, this marks Popeyes' first return to Beijing in over 20 years. To mark the occasion, Popeyes is rolling out several exclusive promotions. On April 10, they will present a "gold gift" valued at RMB 2,500 to the first individual in line. The first 100 customers will receive a free Classic Chicken Sandwich, while another "gold gift" worth RMB 2,500 will be randomly given to one person among the top 100 in line.
From April 10 to 14, patrons can benefit from a 23 percent discount on all items on the menu. Additionally, customers making a purchase during this timeframe will receive five chances at a claw machine and one turn on a gachapon machine filled with exciting prizes.
The Wangfujing location is likely just the beginning of Popeyes’ expansion in the capital, as there are listings on Dianping for branches in Zhongguancun and Fanyuanli IDMALL, although these have yet to receive official confirmation from the company.

Chili's Solana Branch to Launch in Early May
Chili's has announced that it will open its Solana branch in early May. This will be their second location in the city, featuring two floors adorned with Chili's distinct Tex-Mex décor, characterized by warm tones and neon highlights. While Chili's has not yet disclosed an exact opening date for this branch, they have introduced a special promotion to stir excitement among fans.
From now until April 20, Chili's is hosting a check-in campaign where participants can snap a photo or video in front of the Solana store’s promotional display, post it on Xiaohongshu with the hashtag #ChilisBeijingSolana, and then present the post at their Zhongguancun location to receive a complimentary Presidente Margarita or Molten Chocolate Lava Cake.
Chili's promises more surprises for the grand opening week at both branches, and they have revealed that on the grand opening day, the Solana location will feature live traditional Mexican music performed at tableside. Keep an eye out for more updates, including the official opening date!
