Five Guys is set to open, Popeyes is launching two new locations, and Whynot is expanding.

Following last week's announcement that burger joint Huddlers has opened a full store in Beijing, we have more thrilling updates related to burgers and fast food! Five Guys is set to finally establish a branch in Beijing, Popeyes is planning to launch two locations in the city, and WhyNot will be opening a second outlet.

Five Guys to Open Store in Chaoyang Joy City

Fans of the American fast food chain Five Guys will be pleased to know that a branch will soon be coming to Beijing! As per the WeChat account 商业那点事儿 (see image below), Five Guys is expected to open on the second floor of Chaoyang Joy City. While no specific opening date has been provided, it is anticipated to be sometime in 2026. Let’s hope the wait is not too long!

Currently, Five Guys operates five locations in Mainland China, all situated in Shanghai, where they launched their first outlet in 2021. If their Shanghai stores are anything to go by, the Beijing location will feature their classic offerings of burgers, fries, hot dogs, and milkshakes, along with the brand's famously extensive selection of free toppings for order customization. They may also introduce some exclusive burgers tailored for the Chinese market, like their Spicy Cheeseburger.

Popeyes to Open Stores in Wangfujing and Zhongguancun

Last November, we reported on Popeyes' return to Beijing with plans to debut a store in Wangfujing. Now, a new listing on Dianping indicates they're also set to open a branch in Zhongguancun. While there has been no official statement from Popeyes regarding the opening dates for the two Beijing stores, both have already been listed on Dianping. We will keep you updated as soon as we have more information!

WhyNot to Open Second Branch in Beixinqiao

Craft beer and burger venue WhyNot is expanding with a second branch in Beijing, located just north of Beixinqiao Subway Station. This new site is larger than their original Gulou location, where they plan to host a variety of events such as live music, sports screenings, and other entertaining activities. They will continue to offer their excellent beers and, of course, the delicious burgers that earned them a runner-up award for Best New Burger in the 2024 Juicy Burger Cup.

The new branch is set to officially open on March 28, but they will kick things off with a soft opening Electronic Music Night on March 27. Additionally, they will collaborate with The Other Shore Brew and RUHR Brewing Co for two Tap Takeovers from March 27-29. Finally, they will broadcast the Formula One Japanese Grand Prix 2026 across multiple screens in the new venue from March 28-29.
