Following last week's announcement about burger joint Huddlers opening a full store in Beijing, we have more thrilling news in the burger and fast food scene! Five Guys is finally set to launch in Beijing, while Popeyes plans to open two outlets, and WhyNot is set to establish a second location.
Five Guys to Open Store in Chaoyang Joy City
Fans of the American fast food chain Five Guys will be pleased to hear that they are finally bringing a branch to Beijing! As per the WeChat account 商业那点事儿 (see image below), Five Guys is expected to open on the second floor of Chaoyang Joy City. Although no specific opening date has been announced, it is anticipated that the store will debut sometime in 2026. Let's hope the wait won't be too long!
Currently, Five Guys operates five locations in Mainland China, all situated in Shanghai, where they opened their first store in 2021. If the Shanghai outlets are any indication, the Beijing location will offer their signature selection of burgers, fries, hot dogs, and milkshakes, along with the renowned variety of free toppings to customize your meal. There may also be exclusive burgers designed specifically for the Chinese market, like the Spicy Cheeseburger.
Popeyes to Open Locations in Wangfujing and Zhongguancun
Last November, we reported that Popeyes would be making a return to Beijing with plans for a store in Wangfujing. Now, an updated listing on Dianping indicates that they will also be opening a branch in Zhongguancun. There has yet to be an official announcement from Popeyes regarding the opening dates of the two outlets, but both locations are already listed on Dianping. We'll keep you updated on any new information regarding potential opening dates!
WhyNot to Open Second Branch in Beixinqiao
Gulou's craft beer and burger outlet WhyNot is launching a second location in Beijing, just north of Beixinqiao Subway Station. This new venue is more spacious than their original Gulou spot, and they aim to host a variety of events, including live music, sports screenings, and other fun activities. They will continue to serve their great selection of brews and the delicious burgers that earned them a runner-up title for Best New Burger in the 2024 Juicy Burger Cup.
The new branch is set to officially open on March 28; however, they will host a soft opening Electronic Music Night on March 27 and collaborate with The Other Shore Brew and RUHR Brewing Co for two Tap Takeovers from March 27-29. Additionally, they will be live streaming the Formula One Japanese Grand Prix 2026 across multiple screens at the new venue from March 28-29.
