New Sam’s Club Set to Open in Tongzhou

Approval has recently been granted for the establishment of a new Sam’s Club in Beijing, specifically in the Tongzhou District. This new location, situated in Songzhuang Village, will be the sixth Sam’s Club in the city and the first in Tongzhou. The total construction area for the project is 55,300 square meters. City officials are optimistic that this new store will help create a “destination-style business district,” providing “new premium shopping options for the residents of Tongzhou and nearby areas.”

Beijing’s Citizen Traffic Complaint Service Updated

Beijing Traffic Police have rolled out version 3.0 of the 随手拍 mini program. This application allows citizens to record videos of various traffic violations and related issues. In the previous version, users could only upload videos in real-time; however, the new version introduces a local video upload feature that allows users to submit footage recorded by their dashcams or smartphones within five days. Once verified, these videos will be entered into the law enforcement system, improving the avenues available for reporting traffic violations.

Additionally, there are enhancements aimed at gathering public feedback on traffic concerns, such as traffic light timings and other infrastructure elements, allowing authorities to optimize traffic management based on public input. A new star rating system has also been implemented, where users can earn points through participation in complaints, reports, and suggestions, equating to a rating from one to nine stars.

Since its launch in August 2020, the program has attracted 6.72 million registered users and continues to welcome an average of 40,000 new users each month. There have been over 14.5 million total complaints, averaging more than 7,700 daily. Of these complaints, over 7.9 million have provided sufficient evidence for legal follow-up. The program has notably contributed to a decrease in traffic violation reports.

The public is reminded that taking photos or videos while driving is strictly forbidden.
