Busy Holiday 8: Nature Tranquility, Chamber Music, Swimming Pool, and Additional Activities

The National Holiday is nearly at an end! Whether you've stayed in the capital or are just returning, there are still numerous activities to enjoy! Today, we’ll explore some final events and things to do on October 8.

      Discover Wenyuhe Park

As the holiday wraps up, it's an ideal opportunity to indulge in some last moments of relaxation. Consider visiting Beijing’s largest park.

Wenyuhe Park (温榆河公园) is an expansive urban green space. The first phase, Wenyuhe Park Phase I, opened in 2022, covering 12 square kilometers. With the recent completion of Phase II, the park now spans approximately 30 square kilometers, making it the largest and most diverse natural area in the city. It reopened to the public on September 29.

The park hosts hundreds of different plant and animal species, including various protected and rare birds. Additionally, it serves as the largest flood detention area in downtown Beijing.

Visitors can enjoy peaceful forest trails, bird-watching wetlands, campsites, spacious lawns suitable for music festivals, areas for markets, and sports events like marathons, cycling, tennis, and equestrian competitions. The park also features science education and cultural exhibitions.

Wenyuhe Park is an excellent place to escape the hustle and bustle of the city and immerse yourself in the tranquility of nature.

During the National Holiday, the park is open from 6 am to 10 pm, and entrance is free. To find directions, search for “温榆河公园” in your preferred map application and select the most convenient entrance.

Wenyuhe Park is located on the south side of the intersection of Lai Guangying Beilu and Binhe Lu in Chaoyang District: 朝阳区来广营北路与滨河路交叉路口南侧.

NCPA Weekend Concert: Jingcai Trio Presents “Fragrance From a Drop of Ink”

On Wednesday, October 8, the Jingcai Trio will perform “点墨生香” (“Fragrance From a Drop of Ink”), an afternoon event that blends traditional Chinese cultural elements with modern music. The trio’s delicate collaboration will weave together Eastern imagery, such as the splendor of the Great Wall, the saga of Yu Ji, and the grace of fan shadows, allowing the audience to experience the deep cultural heritage of China alongside the vigor of contemporary musical creation through instrumental dialogue.

The Jingcai Trio’s performance of “点墨生香” is set for tomorrow, Wednesday, October 8, at 2:30 pm as part of the Encounter Chamber Music Series within the NCPA Weekend Concert Series. The concert will take place in the NCPA Multi-Functional Theatre, with tickets priced at RMB 40.

NOTE: Foreign passport holders may face difficulty purchasing tickets for these performances via most mini programs or ticket apps. It is advised to buy tickets through the NCPA Smart Butler 国家大剧院智慧管家 mini program. Search for “点墨生香,” select the concert, and follow the given instructions.
