Reopening of Line 1 Subway Stations

Recently, several stations on the western segment of Line 1 have reopened following extended closures. Pingguoyuan (苹果园站) has resumed service after being shut for six years, while Gucheng (古城站) and Babaoshan (八宝山站) have reopened after three months of closure each.

Passengers at Pingguoyuan station can now transfer between Line 1, Line 6, and the S1 line, as it is part of the Pingguoyuan Transport Hub. Enhanced options for express, regular bus, and park-and-ride services are also now available.

Upgrades at Pingguoyuan station include a doubling of entrance and exit gates, direct elevator access to different station levels, added escalators at entrances, mother–baby changing facilities, and accessible restrooms.

Bajiao Amusement Park (八角游乐园站) is still closed due to ongoing construction, and trains will continue to pass through this station without stopping. It is expected to reopen in June 2027. As of May 19, the temporary bus route adjustments and other support measures that were implemented during the closure of the mentioned stations have been lifted.

Line 22 Set to Open Later This Year

It has been recently announced that Line 22, also referred to as the Pinggu line, will partially open later this year.

When completed, the line will connect Dongdaqiao station (东大桥站) and Pinggu station (平谷站). The larger section from Hongmiao to Pinggu is set to open later this year, while the shorter stretch between Dongdaqiao and Hongmiao station (红庙站), including Jintaixizhao station (金台夕照站), is projected to be operational in 2029.

This line will link Chaoyang District, Tongzhou District, the city of Sanhe in Hebei province, and Pinggu District, becoming Beijing’s first regional express line connecting provinces. In total, the completed line will stretch approximately 81.8km, with about 50.2km in Beijing and around 31.6km in Hebei province. It will consist of 22 stations, 12 of which will be transfer stations.

Line 22 promises significant advantages for residents of Pinggu and western Yanjiao Town in Sanhe, notably reducing travel time between Yanjiao and Tongzhou to as little as nine minutes. Travel from Yanjiao to Hongmiao station in Beijing is anticipated to take about 28 minutes, while the journey from Pinggu station to Hongmiao station will take around 53 minutes.
