Beijing Ranked Third on National Geographic’s Best of the World List for 2026
National Geographic has included Beijing in its selection of the 25 best travel destinations for 2026, placing it at No. 3. The list emphasizes the city's rich cultural heritage and the growth of tourist-friendly amenities, showcasing Beijing as an ideal location for adventure and discovery.

New Urban Lighting to Showcase Historical and Modern Landmarks
The Beijing Municipal Urban Management Committee has recently released the “Urban Lighting Development Plan of Beijing” as part of the 15th Five-Year Plan. This plan outlines the city's strategy to utilize nighttime illumination to accentuate 14 significant cultural and historical landmarks, as well as contemporary attractions.
The Central Axis will be a primary focus, but other areas like Wangjing, the Grand Canal in Tongzhou, and sections of the Great Wall will also be highlighted.
This initiative to enhance Beijing’s nighttime lighting aims not only to enrich the city's aesthetic and cultural value and improve residents' quality of life, but it also signifies another step in Beijing’s efforts to become an appealing, tourist-friendly global city.
Beijing Publishes Medical Guide for Foreign Residents
The Beijing Municipal Health Commission has released the “Medical Guide for Foreigners,” which is currently accessible in four languages: English, Spanish, French, and Japanese.
This guide provides essential information to help foreign residents navigate medical concerns, including locating hospitals, scheduling appointments, medical procedures, insurance, and more.
