      It's the National Holiday! While many may have left Beijing for the break, those who chose to stay in the capital have plenty of options! Today, we'll highlight some events and activities for tomorrow, October 6.

      **The 2nd Taihu Classical Music Festival**

      The 2nd Taihu Classical Music Festival is ongoing during Golden Week, from now until October 7. This year’s theme is “Because Love,” and the festival seeks to enhance the cultural life of Beijing residents over the holiday while fostering a vibrant professional and popular art ecosystem. The Beijing Symphony Orchestra is hosting the festival at various venues around the Taihu Performing Arts Town in Tongzhou District.

      Expect a variety of captivating musical performances, insightful lectures, and other exciting activities—including a “music marathon”! Both indoor and outdoor events will feature a blend of Western and Chinese classical music, along with activities for children to ensure family-friendly fun.

      Khinkali, traditional Georgian soup dumplings, feature dough pleated around a flavorful minced meat filling mixed with aromatic herbs and a delicious broth. Every Monday at Georgia’s Feast through the end of the year, guests can enjoy this Georgian culinary highlight at half price!

      **“Modern Talk” at Blue Note**

      Jazz pianist, composer, and educator Zhu Mang is among the first self-taught jazz pianists in China, beginning his journey in the ‘90s by studying global jazz with international masters. With a 30-year career, he has performed at renowned venues like the Cotton Club, JZ Club, Shanghai Lincoln Center, and Blue Note in Shanghai, and participated in numerous jazz festivals in China. In 2021, he released his first solo jazz album, Flight, and has collaborated with various jazz artists such as Nils Landgren and Alex Han.

      This upcoming event at Blue Note Beijing will spotlight Zhu’s new album, Reflection, which features jazz adaptations of works by Brahms, Rachmaninov, and Shostakovich. The album includes original pieces by guitarist Evgeny and bassist Artem Dubyna, creating a modern dialogue uniting Europe and Asia.

      Zhu will be joined by bassist Artem Dubyna, guitarist Evgeny Pobozhiy, and drummer Jair Mayorga. For more details about the performance and artists, click here.
