We're not sure about you, but we're eagerly counting down to our inaugural River BBQ Fest! Scheduled for September 19 to 21 at the Riverside Cultural Plaza of Langyuan Station, this three-day event will be packed with barbecue goodness, tasty beverages, and great music.
We’ve already shared insights into the fantastic lineup of over 40 vendors in our first and second vendor posts, and now it’s time to focus on the entertainment. So, let's dive into the acts that will be lighting up the stage.
**Music**
***DMC RK***
The festival will kick off on Friday with DMC RK. He started learning the erhu at the age of five, adding a unique flair to his music. While studying in the US, he frequently performed DJ sets at parties, and upon returning to China, he began showcasing his talent around Beijing. His music blends tropical house, hip-hop, and funky soul, and he excels at creating an emotional atmosphere in his sets to get the crowd energized.
***DJ Arquitect***
Taking over the decks on Friday evening will be DJ Arquitect, aka Dairon Cardona, a regular feature at Beijinger events. As a Cuban DJ and music producer, he’s one of Beijing's favorite Latin music DJs, spinning a vibrant mix of Latin, Afro, Caribbean, and house music that keeps the dance floor buzzing. Previously a resident DJ at Nuo Hotel, the InterContinental, and Martini Terrace, he’s known for his electrifying sets and infectious charisma.
***D-Fi & Kronos***
Starting our Saturday lineup, D-Fi & Kronos will bring their infectious house vibes to the festival. Expect them to play both beloved classics and new tracks that are currently trending. The duo is sure to have as much fun performing as you'll have dancing along.
***Voguish***
Performing on both Saturday and Sunday is Voguish, recognized for their soulful, calming sound that blends jazz, soul, neo-soul, R&B, blues, pop, reggae-soul, Afro-soul, and soft rock. They perform popular Chinese songs from celebrated Chinese artists along with renowned cover songs from around the world, consistently leaving their audience impressed. Additionally, Voguish offers their original music, making each performance distinct and enriching for fans. They sing in multiple languages such as English, French, Spanish, Shona, Zulu, Swahili, and beyond, enhancing the diversity of their performances. Voguish has graced several major events and venues, including the Beijing International Film Festival, various CCTV shows, and the National Centre for Performing Arts, in addition to being the resident band at several international 5-star hotels like the Hyatt.
***Ghost Note***
Ghost Note is a collective based in China that merges pop, funk, Afro, and jazz to create a sound that’s both smooth and electrifying. With a rhythm-driven foundation, the music they produce moves both heart and soul. Their performances are filled with energy, connection, and vibrant vibes, offering everything from dance-inducing funk to jazz improvisation, inviting everyone to immerse themselves in the music and enjoy the experience.
***Area 5k***
Prepare to groove on Saturday and Sunday as Area 5k steps onto the stage for a musical journey like no other! This dynamic band transcends boundaries, fusing funk grooves, catchy pop hooks, smooth R&B, reggae vibes, and the captivating rhythms of Afro beats into one electrifying sound. Comprised of artists from some of Beijing's well-known bands, Area 5k guarantees a performance that’s more than just music; it’s a call to dance, sing along, and revel in joyful energy. Their sets celebrate rhythm and connectivity, uniting crowds with songs that transform every moment into a party. Whether it's silky melodies or heavy basslines, Area 5k delivers with passion, style, and immense fun.
***Leslie JayCee***
Wrapping up Saturday’s performances will be Leslie JayCee, a notable DJ on Beijing’s club scene. He is the first and only Chinese DJ to perform at both Berlin and Dortmund's “Love Parade” twice, and has played at major global events like “Ministry of Sound,” “Cream,” “Mutek,” and “In Bed with Space / Ibiza.” In 2004, he established the label and organization “HouseRabbits,” releasing influential music under JCM. By 2013, JCM became a well-known radio show on CRI Easy FM and Croatia’s Balance FM, later evolving into DeePleasure to focus on deeper, funkier sounds. In the summer of 2015, he performed at Zurich's “Street Parade” and on December 5 of that year, he joined a lineup of 21 top DJs, including Above & Beyond, Michael Mayer, and Gui Boratto at “ListenParis 2015.”
