Busy Holiday: Activities to Enjoy in Beijing Today, May 4

The fourth day of the Labor Day holiday marks the last day of Taco Fest, along with a few suggestions for enjoying time in the lakes district southwest of the venue afterward.

      The Beijinger 2025 Taco Fest

Today is the final day of Taco Fest, so don’t miss the chance to indulge in a variety of tacos, including some exclusive selections, at the National Tennis Center near Olympic Forest Park. This year, we have over 25 vendors, featuring a special guest from Shanghai, La Coyota, along with excellent entertainment, market stalls, and more fun activities.

The Beijinger’s 2025 Taco Fest takes place today from 11 am to 8 pm at the National Tennis Center West Square. Tickets can be purchased at the door for RMB 30. Click here for more details.

      Houhai and Shichahai

Although it may be one of the more crowded areas this holiday—more crowded than usual, at least—a walk around Houhai and Shichahai is ideal for spring. In addition to numerous tourist-oriented souvenir shops, there are many cafés and places to unwind while watching the water after your explorations.

      Slowboat Taproom Rooftop

One such location is the Slowboat Shichahai Taproom, which has recently opened its outdoor patio and rooftop for guests. Settle in with some snacks, a burger, or their weekend brunch, paired with one of their excellent beers for a delightful afternoon overlooking the lakes district. You can check out the latest tap lineup at all Slowboat locations on their official WeChat (ID: SlowBoatBrewery).

Catch The Big Lebowski at Timekeepers

If you're interested in a movie, take a trip back to the Gulou area to Timekeepers, where they will be screening the Coen Brothers' 1998 cult classic, The Big Lebowski. They’ll also feature White Russians for RMB 40 all night, so don your best tattered bathrobe, Pendleton Westerley sweater, and shades, and raise a toast for the Dude.

The Big Lebowski will be screened on Sunday, May 4, at 8 pm at Timekeepers x Ball House. Admission is free.

Timekeepers x Ball House 40 Zhonglouwan Hutong, Dongcheng District 东城区钟楼湾胡同40号
