Guardian Art Center (嘉德艺术中心 Jiādé Yìshù Zhōngxīn)
Originally built to accommodate China’s oldest auction house, this impressive building, designed by the Berlin architecture firm Büro Ole Scheeren, is situated at the intersection of Wangfujing and Wusi Dajie, alongside the Puxian Hotel and Spa. Within, visitors can explore numerous exhibition halls, a café that adapts its theme according to specific exhibitions, and a shop featuring a vast array of art books.
Why Visit?
Whether for the building's architectural design or the eclectic mix of Chinese and international art on display, the center frequently features exhibitions that alternate between ancient and contemporary works. Additionally, if you manage to find it, an outdoor terrace provides views of Jingshan Park to the south.
The Details
Entrance to the Center is complimentary, but to view the exhibitions, tickets must be purchased either on-site or through their ticketing WeChat mini program (accessible via the QR code below or through the Center’s website).
